Autumn Winter 2014-15 Collection by Steven Tai

Sumptuous layering was the order of the day for directional womenswear designer Steven Tai for Autumn Winter 2014-15 that we felt captured the spirit of our ‘Fraternity’ trend perfectly that also took references from hip hop and played with feminine touches for men and a tougher, sportier edge for women.

By combining oversized hoodies and pristine pleated trousers and skirts with beautifully tailored winter coats with deep split collars and bombers with heavily frayed raw edges that created a cosy update of the recent sportsluxe trend.

The Trend Boutique particularly liked the wide palazzo style track pants and rich palette of deep indigo and monochrome black and white whilst the bursts of soft buttermilk yellows and large daisy style motifs kept if fresh and a great carry though to spring.

Already a label to watch and one that is receiving huge accolades from those in the know, this Canadian born designer has now made London his home whilst his international profile has grown showing his debut collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin in 2012, as well as being seen at New York and Milan.

With a BA (Hons) from Central St Martin’s and stints at both Viktor & Rolf and Stella McCartney his pedigree is impeccable and it is no surprise that he was also awarded the inaugural Chloe awards at the 2012 Hyères Festival by Yohji Yamamoto.

With the label now taking the well-trodden route to success of being part of ‘Pioneer’ programme at the Centre for Fashion Enterprise and his new Spring Summer 2015 collection to be shown soon we can’t wait to see where this designer heads next. We do, however expect a somewhat meteoric rise for this star.
