The Basque Culinary Centre by VAUMM in San Sebastián is a stunning example of The Trend Boutique's AW2013-14 'Reflection' trend within architecture. The five-storey centre is built into a steep hillside, with every floor meeting the ground. This creates an almost upside-down like feeling in that visitors arrive on the uppermost storey and then descend into the floors below.

Within the U-shape of the building the walls are panelled with subtly perforated metal sheets creating the understated feeling of modern luxury that is so key to the 'Reflection' trend for architecture. The panels are all patterned slightly differently, creating a flow around the building, enhanced by the movement of sunlight throughout the day.

The elegant simplicity creates a regal air that is both eye-catching and timeless. The deep and offset balconies are designed to make the overall building reminiscent of a towering stack of dishes, something that is both playful and quirky but in its realisation is also modern and sleek.
